WHO:
Everyone is encouraged to participate – beginner and competitive paddlers, children and families welcome! Racers age 4-11 must paddle tandem with an adult or, they can register for our 1K Kids SUP, canoe, and/or kayak race! Racers 12 years or older may sign up to race solo in the 1.5, 5 or 10 mile race. There is a Junior class category = ages 12-17 years of age.

WHERE:
Start Line: The Expedition School launch in the lagoon in Fiesta Gardens – 34 Robert Martinez Drive, Austin, TX 78702. Plenty of parking is available on site in the parking lot near the baseball fields and along the street.

WHEN:
Race Day is Sunday April 13th at 9:00 AM!

WHAT TO BRING:
Racers must bring their own kayak,canoe or SUP (no inflatable water crafts) and paddle. All participants regardless of age or watercraft are required to wear a US Coast Guard approved type III or type V lifejacket.

HOW & WHEN TO REGISTER
Online registration is open thru 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 11th, 2014. All registrants who register through this time will qualify for placement awards in the respected race (1st place, etc.) and, will be timed. Online registration accepts all major credit cards.

Onsite registration is available during packet pick up on Friday, April 11th, 2014, from 12pm – 7:00pm @ The Expedition School. Same Day Registration, Sunday, April 13th, 2014 is available from 6am – 8am @ The Expedition School. Note: Same Day Race day registration prices increase by $10 for all categories! Same day registration accepts cash or all major credit cards.

RACE COURSE:
• 5 mile course will start at in the lagoon at The Expedition School boat launch near Fiesta Gardens. The racers will proceed out of the lagoon and turn right onto the river heading upstream. Paddlers will continue paddling until they reach the 1st street bridge. Paddlers will make a left turn around all of the bridge pilings and continue downstream on the right side of the river. Paddlers continue on river right until they reach Bird Island where they will circumnavigate the island and then return to the lagoon. The finish line will be in front of the grandstands.
• 10 mile course will loop the 5 mile course two times. 10 mile paddlers will come into the lagoon and across the finish line to mark their first lap time and then continue back out on course for another lap.
• Family Fun paddle courses will start in the lagoon and continue under the red bridge onto Lady Bird Lake. Paddlers will cross the lake and make a left turn around the buoy on the other side. Paddlers will then circumnavigate Bird Island and return to the lagoon to cross the finish line in front of the Grandstand.

2014 Family Water Festival
On Sunday, April 13, 2014, the Colorado River Alliance (CRA) will host the 2014 Family Water Festival at Fiesta Gardens on the shores of Ladybird Johnson Lake. CRA is partnering with the Austin Expedition School to coordinate this fantastic family event with the Colorado River Ramble, which will occur directly before the Family Water Festival. Colorado River Ramble participants are encouraged to explore the Family Water Festival directly after their race finishes!

The Family Water Festival will be filled with music, engaging activities, free workshops, and exhibitors that are all related to water-related resources and the outdoors here in Austin, Texas.

Volunteer at the Water Fest!
Over 100 volunteers will assist in hosting this festival. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Geoff Hensgen, CRA’s Program Director, at geoff@coloradoriver.org.
