Lifeguard Instructor Course
Lifeguard Instructor Course Objectives
To train instructor candidates to teach Lifeguard Training (including First Aid), CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard Management, AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety and Basic Water Rescue. The training prepares instructor candidates by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials and methods, how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress.
Be at least 17 years of age by the last scheduled session of the instructor course and have a minimum of 2 years experience working as an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Students must pass each section of the Lifeguard pre-course written exam with a score of 80 percent and demonstrate excellent proficiency in the skills evaluation.
