Times: Th/F 5:30pm – 9pm, Sa/Su 9:00am – 4pm
Locations Vary: Texas School for the Deaf (Indoor heated pool facility reserved for LG sessions November thru May. ***Pool is currently closed for repairs*** Courses scheduled at Texas School for the Deaf will now be taught at the University of Texas Joe Jamail Swim Center); St. Stephen’s Episcopal School (outdoor heated pool facility reserved for LG sessions May thru August) ; and, Westover Hills Country Club (outdoor pool facility *selected April date only*) – all locations are in Austin, Texas
Description: This course is designed for individuals wanting the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a traditional pool environment. The course content and activities prepare individuals to recognize emergencies and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies occurring in and around the aquatic environment.
Cost includes: online books, fees, CPR pocket mask, and Fox 40 whistle & lanyard
Prerequisite: 15+ years; 300 yard continuous swim (100 yards of freestyle, 100 yards of breastroke, and 100 yards of combination of the two); Timed Event: Swim 20 yards, surface dive 7ft, retrieve a 10lb diving brick, and return within 1 minute and 40 seconds
What to bring: competitive style bathing suit, change of clothes, snacks, water, goggles, ballpoint pen, paper/notebook, watch, waterproof sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
Certifications: CPR/AED for the Professional Lifeguard Rescuer (valid for 2 years); First Aid (valid for 2 years); and Lifeguarding or (valid for 2 years).
