We are now offering 2 options for our Expedition camp: 1/2 Day Camp (for ages 13-17) and 1/2 Day Camp (for ages 8-12)

1/2 Day Expedition Camp (Ages 13 - 17)

Dates:

Session I: June 4th - June 8th, 2012
Session II: June 11th - 15th, 2012
Session III: June 18th - 22nd, 2012
Session IV: June 25th - June 29th, 2012
Session V: July 2nd - July 6th, 2012

Time: 8am – 1pm (day camp)

Cost: $275

Drop off - Pick up: City of Austin Lorraine Grandma Camacho Center - Expedition School Lagoon

Environmental Initiatives: Barton Creek Greenbelt clean-up; Leave No Trace Ethics; recycling

Certifications: American Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid

Skills: Hiking; orienteering; mountain biking; mountain bike maintenance; swimming; Leave No Trace ethics; Wilderness First Aid & CPR; expedition preparation; flora and fauna identification; backcountry cooking; weather and climate forecasting; rock climbing; and, river rafting.

Description: The first and only camp of its kind in Austin,Texas, The Expedition Camp is proud to be running strong after 5 incredible years of outside fun. Utilizing the natural sanctuaries in and around the Austin City Limits with Stand Up Paddling, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing on natural limestone faces, swimming in local watering holes and rafting a mighty river in Texas. Hands on, contextual learning awaits students at every corner– including mountain bike maintenance, Wilderness First Aid skills, Leave No Trace ethics, and weather and climate forecasting. Join us for an action packed – expeditionary experience you’ll never forget!

Cost: $235

Drop off - Pick up: City of Austin Lorraine Grandma Camacho Center - Expedition School Lagoon

Environmental Initiatives: Keep Austin Beautiful lake clean-up, recycling, Leave No Trace ethics, local flora and fauna identification, Science based curriculum with the Colorado River Foundation on the conservation of the Colorado River.

Skills: Stand Up Paddling, water safety with Colin´s Hope, mountain biking, bike maintenance with Bicycle Sportshop, bike and road safety, mapping safe routes to schools, land navigation and geocaching, water quality testing with LCRA and the Colorado River Foundation, recycling, conservation and lake clean-up with Keep Austin Beautiful.

Description: The first and only camp of it´s kind in Austin, Texas, The Half Day Expedition Camp is designed for youth 8-12 years of age to explore the natural sanctuaries in and around Austin. Youth will Stand Up Paddle with the pro´s, learn water safety with a message from Colin´s Hope, learn and study conservation and Science with the Colorado River Foundation, understand the importance on why it´s cool to be green with a lake clean-up and a message from Keep Austin Beautiful, mountain bike and learn how to stay safe on the road -while knowing how to fix a flat with Bicycle Sportshop, and, land navigate and locate some geocaches along the way!

All camp counselors with The Expedition School are professional educators in the private and-or public school system, all are certified in Waterfront Lifeguarding and Wilderness First Aid, all undergo Criminal Background Investigation checks, and love teaching their passion in the field.
